Urgent Update: New 20% Taiwan Tariff? NOT for Your PCBA! (August 2025)

August 1, 2025 White House announcement regarding a new 20% reciprocal tariff on certain goods from Taiwan.

HOWEVER, it is CRITICAL to understand that this new tariff DOES NOT apply to our core offerings, including PCB and PCBA. The current tariff rates 20% only apply to 25.2% of exports to the U.S.

This update is a "reciprocal tariff" adjustment and explicitly EXCLUDES goods listed in the tariff exemption list (Annex II) and additional Presidential Memorandums. These figures highlight that major Taiwanese exports to the U.S. currently will not be threatened by the tariff adjustment, including:

The above-listed categories are to be imported into the U.S. at 0% duty.

This allows you to confidently avoid both the new 20% reciprocal tariff and the significant 25% Section 301 tariffs that may apply to PCBA from China.

*) Printed circuit boards imported into the U.S. from mainland China are subject to an additional 25% Section 301 tariff, on top of any normal base duties.

While this form is not required by U.S. Customs & Border Protection for import declarations, a detailed description of merchandise is mandatory per 19CFR 141.86. Rest assured, if your goods from Taiwan match any of the listed HS codes, they remain eligible for 0% import duty to the U.S.
